2008 - A Year of Transition Starting in 2008, the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado will assist in running the New Year's Day Ice Swim as a fundraiser. The Colorado chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will infuse our group with new blood that should make the coming event very unforgettable. Their website is at: http://www.alz.org/co/in_my_community_11668.asp Note: The 2008 New Year’s Day Ice Swim will be held at the swimmer’s beach, not the boat ramp, as previously held - see map below. Bring warm clothes, swimwear, and shoes that can be worn in the water. It is a longer walk from the dock to the hot tubs this year! Registration and payment is at the event: $15 for adults, $10 for teens, and $5 for children. We can not accept credit cards at the event.

2007 - A Marvelous Swim!
We had over 425 pa rticipants this year for the 24th Annual New Year's Day Ice Swim. Pictures are soon to follow. If you lost any clothing or other items, please call me, Walter, at 303-494-3348, as Carol no longer can store items in the maintenance building. SAVE THE POLAR BEAR! This will be my last year in being the main organizer, as I'm not able to balance this duty with personal obligations and newer stringent city requirements and costs. We think it would be great if the city of Boulder took over the event. If you want to Save the Polar Bear and "keep Boulder weird," you might want to have a word with the Boulder City Council or perhaps the Chamber of Commerce. Otherwise the event should now be run by a professional event organizer with additional funding from corporate sponsors. Thanks to Our Volunteers We couldn't do the event without help from the Longmont Humane Society, KRFX (The Fox) radio station, and the Longmont Emergency Unit's rescue divers. We donate any profits from the event to the Longmont Humane Society, and sometimes also to another group chosen by the organizers. Chief
