SOLAR WIND 8 - SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT ------------------------------------- From: Daniel Winterhalter (DANIELW@jplsp2.jpl.nasa.gov) Dear Colleague, Preparations are well underway for the Solar Wind 8 meeting, to be held at the Dana Point Resort, California, from June 25 - 30, 1995. The 5 day meeting will consist of four sessions: I. Corona and Solar & Stellar Wind Acceleration; Covers processes in and below the sun's corona, and information from Session Comittee: S. Habbal, Chair (habbal@cfa.harvard.edu), E. Priest, S. Tsuneta. II. Solar Wind Composition and Internal State; This session will concentrate on the SW composition, i.e., the SW chemistry, particle distributions, etc. In addition, the topic of waves and turbulence will be addressed here. Session Comittee: M. Neugebauer, Chair (marcia.neugebauer@jpl.nasa.gov), P.Bochsler, R. Bruno, E. Marsch. III. Solar Wind Structure, Dynamics, and Evolution; The topics included here are CME's, CR mapping, and Ulysses high latitude observations. Session Comittee: J. Gosling, Chair (jgosling@lanl.gov), V. Pizzo, T. Sanderson, I.Veselovski. IV. Outer Heliosphere, Boundaries, and Interactions with the Local Interstellar Medium; Observations, etc., of the outer heliospheric fields and particles, and topics pertinent to the heliospheric boundaries and SW interaction with the LISM. Emphasis will be placed on contributed papers (both oral and poster), with a limited number of invited presentations. Participants in the meeting will be asked to submit papers for a high quality proceedings volume, in keeping with Solar Wind meeting tradition. The Dana Point resort is located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a one hour drive south of Los Angeles (close to Laguna Beach). There are many shops and restaurants just a short walk from the resort, together with a picturesque harbor and beach. A shuttle service is available from Los Angeles International Airport. Future announcements will contain additional information regarding registration and the program.
