---------------------------------------------------------------- 1. REPORT FROM THE SPA PROGRAM COMMITTEE - 1994 FALL AGU MEETING ---------------------------------------------------------------- From: Bob Lysak (bob@aurora.spa.umn.edu) This fall's meeting is the biggest AGU meeting ever, with over 800 papers submitted in SPA, and over 5700 overall. In addition, the meeting will be held this year in the MOSCONE CENTER, not the Civic Auditorium, which is undergoing remodeling. The good news is that the rooms in the Moscone Center are much larger than those at the Civic Auditorium; the bad news is that there are fewer rooms overall. This fact, combined with the size of the meeting, implies that about 50% of the papers submitted to the meeting must be presented as posters. Those of us on the program committee realize that this means that some papers which requested oral presentation could not be accommodated, even with fewer and/or briefer invited talks than usual. Nevertheless, we have made our best effort to schedule quality poster sessions as well as quality oral sessions. The program of sessions for the meeting is as follows: Monday AM SA11A Atmospheric Response in Aurora SH11A Solar Physics Posters SH11B Polar Inner Heliosphere: Ulysses Southern Polar Pass I SM11A Global Magnetospheric Posters SM11B Magnetic Storms Monday PM SA12A Thermosphere-Ionosphere Coupling: Waves, Scintillations and Disturbances Posters SA12B Top Side Ionosphere, Polar Wind, Exosphere SH12A Polar Inner Heliosphere: Ulysses Southern Polar Pass II SM12A Plasma Wave Posters SM12B Outer Planetary Magnetosphere Posters SM12C Radiation Belts SM12D Magnetopause Transport Processes Tuesday AM SA21A Equatorial Electrojet, Plumes and Bubbles--Session in Memory of Bill Hanson SH21A Polar Inner Heliosphere: Ulysses Southern Polar Pass Posters SH21B Solar Physics SM21A Inner Magnetospheric Posters SM21B Energy Storage, Transport and Dissipation in the Magnetosphere I SM21C Ionospheric Signatures of the Magnetopause Tuesday PM SA22A Lower Thermosphere Dynamics Posters SA22B Middle Atmosphere: Measurement Techniques and Observations SH22A Polar Sun: Observations from 1 AU Posters SH22B Recent Advances in Understanding the Comet/Solar Wind Interaction I SM22A Energy Storage, Transport and Dissipation in the Magnetosphere II SM22B Auroral Particle Acceleration Wednesday AM SH31A Recent Advances in Understanding the Comet/Solar Wind Interaction Posters SH31B Parker Lecture, A.
