This module illustrates how the properties of a plasma, such as density, temperature, and magnetic field change across collisionless shocks, and more generally how MHD waves travel in a plasma. It also calculates the dimensions of the shock foot where ions are specularly reflected back into the solar wind.

The Rankine-Hugoniot conservation relations, which are incorporated in this module, allow for the predictions of the properties of the downstream plasmas to be made based on knowledge of the strength of the shock and upstream conditions.
