ROMAP investigation on the package
that lands on the surface of
Comet 67P/C-G. The scientific objectives of the ROMAP
investigation include: long term monitoring of cometary activity as it approaches the sun;
detection of any remanent magnetization; passive electromagnetic sounding of the nucleus; charging of
the lander package. The trajectory takes Rosetta past asteroids 21 Lutetia and Steins and then to a rendezvous
with Churyumov-Gerasimenko as it moves in toward perihelion.
Rendezvous is scheduled for May 2014 with lander delivery in November 2014. Mission ends in December 2015 four months after perihelion passage.
