- SAMNET is operated by the Magnetospheric Physics Group in the Department
of Physics at the University of York.
- SAMNET began taking data on the 1st of October, 1987. It has stations in
the UK, the Faroe Islands, Sweden, Norway , Finland, Iceland and Russia.
For the first 8 years of operation the sampling interval was 5 seconds, but
since mid-november 1995 the stations have been recording at 1 second
intervals. The data server also has 1-second data from the IMAGE stations
at Kilpisjarvi and Hankasalmi. On-line data are available for registered
users (Registration is free).
