Groundstation Data Resolutions

There are 3 types of data resolution provided. 1) 1 minute time resolution, which is the original data obtained from NSSDC; 2) 5 minutes time resolution; and 3) 60 minutes time resolution.

1) 1 minute resolution data are made directly from NSSDC tapes.

2) 5 minute resolution data are made from the 1 minute data above with the 5 minutes average window without overlap.

3) 60 minute resolution data are also made from the 1 minute data above with the 60 minutes average window without overlap.

It is strongly recommended that users use low resolution data for plots over long intervals and reserve the high resolution data for shorter intervals.

These guidelines should be followed when you request the plots: 1 to 24 hours time range, use 1-minute data 1 to 5 days time range, use 5-minute data 5 day to 15 days time range, use 60-minute data
